This week has been eventful, but still without work...well, at least paying work. I did have a successful "artist date". Oddly enough, I find that is the most difficult thing for me to do in my Artist's Way process. Well, that and the Reading Depravation business. That sucked! But my artist date was great this week. I have this Mendhi henna tattoo kit that my Aunt Felicia got me a long time ago. I just never got around to using it because it takes at least 6 hours to dry. Well, I mixed the ingredients last week, stored the solution in the fridge, and finally got around to using it on Tuesday. I put a design of four "aum" symbols facing outward on my right hand so that no matter what direction you looked at my hand an aum would be facing you. It turned out pretty cool I have to say. My friend Marcus immediately recognized the design. So did the guy at the Indian curry house where I ate lunch today. My friend Jim thinks it looks like a rash. What can I say? I love him in spite of his spiritual ignorance. He loves me even though I don't remember who wrote most of the lyrics for "Working" among other things...Stephen Schwartz right? I did the drawing free hand. It was pretty easy working with the henna too. I was initially afraid I wouldn't be able to move for six hours while it was drying but the henna dries pretty quickly. I was even able to wrap the design in toilet paper which did a fine job of protecting it while I slept. The color turned out really well, I must say. It is definitely visible.

Today I helped out my friends at Pangolin Pics. They are filming a series of documentaries about claustrophobia and they needed bodies to fill a room so they could film the perspective of a claustrophobe. They also picked up a bunch of people from Times Square. So we had all these tourists from all over that the PAs recruited from the TKTS booth. What a cool NY Story they get to tell when they get home. Turns out one of the groups they enlisted was from Minnesota- a college in Minnesota. I mentioned the one person I knew from Minnesota and not even her last name...and they knew her!!!! . The funny thing is, they are going to tell this girl I said hi. I wouldn't be surpprised at all if she had a small conniption fit. I know she will remember me because she was the person who dated the guy I dated on tour after I dated him...it's a long story. Let's just say the lag time between me and she wasn't alot. (To my grammatically anal family: I KNOW I used incorrect usage there. I thought it sounded more poetic so :-P !! I am still friends with the guy if you can believe. I think he will also have an interesting reaction when I mention this to him. I also met some guys from Canyon, Texas. This only proves the point about Tex In the City. Texans are everywhere and it's time we started showing the world what great people Texans are. (as opposed to some people who are idiots living in a big white house in D.C. who shall remain nameless.) Let's strive for global domination the Texas way!!! With beer, barbecue, and great music. Anybody know Matthew McConnaughey's address?
