Friday night before our wild

Friday night before our wild Weehawken experience, we decided we would try to get into NOBU on Sunday for lunch or dinner. Who in NYC eats on Sundays anyway? So I called, finally got through to the hostess and after being instructed to call at 3pm if I hadn't heard anything, put my name on the waiting list. I called at about 3:30 and talked to a very handsome-sounding stranger. So I put on my sexy voiceover voice and asked if anything had opened up. Alas it hadn't. But he took down my number again and promised to call if something did. He called about three minutes later. I attribute this promptness to my sexy Voiceover voice. I knew those expensive classes would get me something. So we now had 6:00 dinner reservations to NOBU. I would like to do a personal shout out to that nameless, faceless person on the phone. I could cross off one of the Big 3 objectives. Yeehaw!

It's Alphabetical Silly

So it is now about 6ish and we decide we are sick of walking around, it's getting dark, and we aren't gonna find Zena tonight. We decide to go for coffee. This proves to me more challenging than getting into Nobu. We went to the first place and Felicia actually orders but they didn't have something, I can't remember what-maybe pastries?, anyway it was something that every self respecting coffee place should have. Or maybe it was a cyber cafe and you had to pay $10 for an hour our something ridiculous like that. So we left. Then it became a deal. We couldn't find a coffee shop that had comfortable chairs or coffee. So I decided to be a little adventurous. Last February I went on a date where this guy took me to a coffee place that was just the trick. It was on the upper east side in the early eighties and I think on Second Avenue. Even though I knew this could turn into another "searching for Zena through SOHO" pilgrimage I decided to take a chance and take advantage of the FunDay Subway pass I had talked my aunts into getting. We made our way uptown. I called information from a payphone to dry to get the phone number to verify the address. NO luck. I looked in my Vindigo. NO luck. Still I trudged on. Surely this place was still there and I could find it. I prayed to the NYC God again. And out it popped! Not on 82nd where I thought but on 84th. Fortunately we walked down from 86th so my aunts never had a clue.

Finally we made it to DT UT. I had gotten the initials wrong when I was doing all my frantic checking about. Margaret and Felicia could take a load off and relax and I could revisit one of the places I went on my first date in NYC. For those of you who don't remember, this is the guy I am sure choked on a peanut and died as I never heard from him again. NEVER let a guy pick you up in a gay bar. It is just bad ju-ju. Felicia and I also split the S'mores. They actually bring fire to your table along with all the stuff so you can roast them yourself. That was yummy!

We decided to go to Times Square after, grab a quick bite and some souvenirs for my cousin Kat, and look at the big Coca-Cola sign. After we saw the lights of TS, and bought Kat's souvenirs, we decided to eat something. I thought Jo-Allen's might be a good place as Broadway stars frequent it frequently afte a show. But we came upon Sardi's and Margaret was enamored. I hadn't eaten in Sardi's since Iwas here during spring break in highschool. The food was fabulous and the waiter was really sweet. I think he was from Nepal...I don't know why. Turns out he bought and rented out a house in Dallas. He intended to live there someday. So by the time we got home it was midnight ish...maybe closer to one a.m. We popped in a movie and fell asleep dreaming of the amazing culinary experience to come. We weren't disappointed.
