Less a Catholic Everyday I

Less a Catholic Everyday
I am so disgusted with the Catholic Church I could spit. What in God's name do those jokers think they are doing? It turns out the priest has neglectfully doublebooked the church. In addition to Jenny's wedding they are hosting a Church Bazaar complete with staged musicians, a raffle, and bingo. They have offered to steer clear of the church but the parking lot will be full of games, people, music and prizes while Jenny is getting married. I can't believe the gross negligence. So, ever the watchful and resourceful MOH, I call the Bishop of Austin's office to find information about the process of getting permission to have a catholic wedding mass off premises. I then get the biggest runaround. I feel like I am dealing with insurance salesmen. The bishop referrred me to the home church. The home church's wedding coordinator is out for two weeks with no one replacing. I finally talk to a lovely lady from Pflugerville's church. She basically says that it is completely up to the whims of the home priest to even ask the bishop to have an off-premises wedding. So much for the "universality" of the Catholic Church. The Bishop can then confirm or deny. The Bishop of Austin's webpage addresses the issue in a FAQ about weddings. Apparently it all has to do with respecting the solemnity of the occasion etc. etc. I had no idea that a bean bag toss and dunking booth could be considered solemn. What are they doing? Lately it seems that Father Church (such a misogynistic organization cannot really be considered "mother") is more Sanhedrin than Christ in the temple.

Meredith, why can they not simply reschedule the bazaar to a different date? Or request reserved parking in the lot for the wedding party/guests? Actually, the mixed functions might just add something special - just trying to look on the bright side.

You mean the church really isn't interested in your salvation, it just wants to keep you frightened and docile so it can continue to control lives and bilk outrageous sums of money from the ignorant masses? Just exactly as they have been doing throughout the entirity of their existance?

Well, I'm shocked.
