Leaving the Wingman
I don't want to go too much in to detail but one in our party got some bad booze. We were about to leave, he and I. I went to say goodbye to Jack, a nice guy playing pool and to let the Mayor know we were gone. Rhett was, ahem, too busy to talk. When I turned back said person was passed out cold, clammy and exhausted. Mongo the bouncer helped me and our other pal get the down one outside and on a firehose pipe. The Down One was not in a good way. Rhett was, ahem, too busy to notice. So while The Down One (TDO) and I wait for the car Rhett and Girl Du Jour come out. He saunters over to assess the situation and says, Our Friend is going to get the car. Girl Du Jour is going to Brooklyn and I have to go with her. Really? You have to go to Brooklyn? . This was a choice that surprised me. Even Maverick learned, all be it the hardway, that you never leave your wingman. I was really shocked. So I'll put this out to all you guys and girls who read this. My attitude is this: If it's a one night stand then who cares. Dime a dozen and nobody special. There are always one night stands and friends are well, Wingmen. If it's someone special, she'll be there in the morning or the next night. Maybe its GirlCode honor that you never leave your wingman and the Top Guns just stole it. Setting aside the fact that is completely impolitic of him to be so blatant with where he puts his tongue these days, isn't leaving the wingman in this situation completely taboo? Inappropriate? Frivolous? Am I being too hard on Rhett for this infraction because I am still getting over a bad choice? Or is this a truly heinous thing to do? Comments from guys and girls are welcome.
Okay, now that a little time and tide has passed I can honestly admit, I was more offended by Rhett's behaviour with Girl Du Jour. The Down One was well taken care of between the other pal and I. I guess I just reverted my anger to a less personal issue. In the end I think the whole episode, though difficult to go through and truly impolitic, inappropriate, selfish and rude, occured for the best. I see Rhett and my relationship with him much more clearly than I was allowing myself to see it before then. There's no question that in the last few months Rhett and I were more than just friends. But we were also much much less than lovers. I guess I have just hit my limit for ambiguities. We Texas girls can only take so much. The saying may be crass but it holds a lot of water-"Either piss or get off the pot." Me I am tired of the tease; so I'm getting off and looking for better plumbing.

Actually, he couldn't have. He's not currently in a living situation where he can bring girls home. And he sure as hell wasn't bringing them to my house where the other two stayed for the evening. So for Rhett it was her house or no house...at least that night.

It is absolutely unexcuseable to leave the situation the way Rhett did. In his "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" ABOUT MY FRIEND attitude. Hell he coulda brought the flavor of the day home with him or at least drug her along to be tallied with once said situation was in hand.
On the other hand.....he is a guy and well lets just say the lead brain was in action. So, bring his misbehavior to the forefront , then let it go.
