Integration
I went to see a friend play last night at the The Lion's Den. I've always enjoyed Marcus' musicianship. Tonight was no exception. He has taken to wearing a piece of jewelry- art really- designed and smithed by a gifted jeweler who is also his friend. The piece is a simple necklace called "Spoon" and I covet it. Having met the Goldsmith, Mr. Kris, I made him promise to save me one of these signature pieces he created last Valentine's day.
Listening to Marcus and watching "Spoon" play about the string it was fastened, dangling back and forth with the rhythm of Marcus' movement and music I was struck how it all seemed so connected so integrated. The voice of the song and the movement of a necklace; two pieces of art intertwined in an accidental moment of collusion. It's one of the things I love about New York; meeting of the minds, random accidents of whole puzzles solved by pieces that didn't know they belonged together. It happens everywhere here and it's like magic to me.

I agree with your Mom. Have you thought about changing your career to writing? You have a wonderful knack (sp?) for choosing just the right words in exactly the right place. It's like poetry!
