Ollabelle
The day after the Morrison fundraiser, Pru and I went to see a concert in this little Weehawken park by the Hudson River. It was the first event in a free concert series. The band Ollabelle was really great. They have a gospel/folk sound that is reminiscent of Old Texas and "O brother Where Art thou?". If you like them, you can purchase their music on Itunes.
While at this event, I discovered that Weehawken is building a huge Performing Arts Center by the river. Hmm. Now this is something I'd like to get involved in.
I also learned this year is the the 200th anniversary of the Hamilton-Burr duel that happened right here in little ole Weehawken. This ancient pissing contest resulted in Hamilton's death and the "what might have been's" if these guys had better communication skills are still raging. This weekend there is a reenactment at the very spot. I and my Weehawken friends are planning on going. It should be fun. And wow! American History practically in my back yard.
